Bio
I grew up in the midwest but have lived in Southern California for most of my life. I’ve always loved art, creativity and making things, but chose a career path in college and university work, thinking it a more stable financial choice. Even though those years were important and happy ones for me, I’d had enough after a decade and went to art school. What a joy!
After finishing an MFA, I focused on creating works on paper using a multitude of mediums: printmaking, collage, painting, drawing, encaustic and experimentation. I’ve been awarded three residencies for a month each. These “gifts of time” were in Newfoundland (two visits) and in an electricity-free cabin in the California high desert hills. I wrote a book on screen printing for beginners, published by Lark Books, and taught a variety of printmaking classes at Long Beach City College for twelve years.
